'Madeline Usher' Cameo Necklace by Leigh S-B

Happy World Card Making Day Everyone!

A few days ago I shared my 'Bride of Usher' art card and promised you a matching Necklace and here it is, I hope you like it ;0)  I should have shared the card today instead with it being World Card Making Day and all, silly me!

If you're a fan of Tim Holtz Idea-ology goodies then you're going to love this project coz I used one of his tarnished gold Ornate Plates as the frame for my spooky miniature 'portrait painting' of
Madeline Usher!

I used the same Goth Girl stamp from  Blockheads Paper Arts exclusive Di's Characters rubber stamp collection as the focal point of my dark and twisty Cameo Necklace as well as the Script 'Backgrounds for All Occassions' stamp for the backing of this piece.  I had a spooktacular time designing this and the matching art card!

Pop on over to my blog, Leigh S-B Designs, to see the full tutotrial as well as two more 'looks' I created for this spooky antique piece!

'The Bride of Usher' - A Dark & Twisty Halloween Card by Leigh S-B

Howzit Stamping Friends!
October is a few days away and you all know what that means...it's Halloween Time!!  To get you in the spooky spirit here's a Blockheads design team project for you to check out!  Pop on over to my blog, Leigh S-B Designs, for the full tutorial with step-by-step photos!  I've also got a matching necklace to share so stay tuned ;0)
I used Blockheads Paper Arts exclusive rubber stamp called Goth Girl from the Di's Characters collection as the focal point of my dark and twisty art card as well as the Script 'Backgrounds for All Occassions' stamp for the background and accent stamping.  I had a spooktacular time designing this one and the Goth Girl image is actually quite versatile coz I was able to turn her into a scary Bride by making most of her hair look like a wedding veil which was just perfect for the theme I had in mind for this project!

Happy Stamping!

Sympathy Card Inspiration by Leigh S-B

Howzit Blockheads!
I'm stopping by today to share my latest design team tutorial with you all.
Unfortunately at some point we all need inspiration for Sympathy cards and sadly I needed to design this card when my husband's Aunt passed away earlier this year.

The main feature of my card is the gorgeous Calendula flower stamp available from Blockheads Paper Arts exclusive line of stamps.  This large flower image comes on the large Flowers Sheet unmounted or cut on cling cushion.  Some of the flowers from this collection are available individually too!  Flowers are definitely the best go-to images for sympathy cards and I hope you never have the need to make one but at least I've given you some inspiration just in case!  But don't forget that my card design can easily be adapted to fit any occasion just by switching out the sentiment stamp you use!  Blockheads has some awesome sentiment stamps you should check out too!

Please pop on over to my blog, Leigh S-B Designs, and check out my tutorial with step-by-step photos!

Until next time...stamp happy!

" Steampunk Self Portrait " - Creating Fine Art with Blockheads Stamps!

Hello Blockhead Fans!

This is Leigh S-B aka The Sharpie Domino Queen stopping by today with a Blockheads Paper Arts design team tutorial.  Pop on over to my blog,  LeighSBDesigns.blogspot.com, and check out my really cool Steampunk-style self portrait creation that demonstrates how you can create Fine Art with rubber stamps for a truly unique piece of Art worthy of being framed or for making personalized art cards.  I also used metal washes and T!m Holtz Idea-ology embellishments to achieve that perfect Steampunk look!

I used an assortment of stamps from Blockheads Paper Arts exclusive stamp line and had an absolute blast working with some of the newest stamp releases too!  Click on each image sheet for more info.  All are available unmounted or cut on cling cushion.

I hope I've inspired you to create some Fine Art portraits of your own.  They would make perfect gifts for your family and friends too - portraits of them of course, LOL!   I'm sure your Moms would appreciate ones of you though ;0)

Until next time...keep stamping!

Alice in Wonderland Coasters & ATCs

Alice in Wonderland Coasters made with Lost Coast Designs stamps
and scanned pages from the book.
Pages from the Alice in Wonderland book make such a fun background for these Lost Coast Designs stamps.  I didn't want to tear pages from the book so I scanned pages, printed them on copy paper.  I used a laser printer.  If you want to try this but only have an ink jet printer you should photocopy the page that prints because the ink will run during some of the steps of this process.

To make these coasters I aged the printed scans with walnut ink diluted with water to about 1/5th the strength of Tsukineko Walnut Ink spray.  I simply poured a little into an empty spritz bottle and added water.  I find I prefer it pretty week because I can always spray again if I want it darker.

I used a pulpboard coaster as my base but since these will be covered, chipboard works just as well.  I then applied Perfect Paper Adhesive (PPA) to the face of the coaster and spread it with my finger and pressed it onto the back of the printed, aged paper and trimmed around the coaster leaving about 1/2".

To wrap the paper I made 3-4 cuts in each corner and pulled the pieces of the corner in to glue them with PPA and then wrapped the edges around and glued them the same way.  The back will get covered so it doesn't matter how it looks on the back.

After the PPA dried I stamped and decorated the coasters the way I wanted, making sure I used permanent ink that wouldn't bleed in the final step.  I also made sure I kept them non-dimensional so they could be used as coasters.  Finally, I covered the tops with PPA.  PPA dries flexible and clear and is water-resistant.  The backs can be covered with felt cork or craft foam.

The faux book pages also make fun ATCs as well.  I just printed smaller versions of the pages on card stock and cut them to ATC size.
